MDC-T official wanted for kidnapping

Mohammed allegedly kidnapped Mr Bhekinkosi Ndlovu (37) from Parkhurst Flats at the corner of Samuel Parirenyatwa Street and 8th Avenue in Bulawayo at about 11am on Saturday. He was accusing him of being the brains behind his suspension from the party.

Mr Ndlovu, a firefighter employed by the Bulawayo Fire Brigade, who is also the district secretary for MDC-T in Bulawayo Central, however, later escaped and reported the matter at Bulawayo Central Police Station.

His Initial Report Number is 8882/09. A source revealed that Mohammed, the chairman for the party in Ward One, arrived at the flat driving a silver-gray BMW, registration number JCR 361 GP.

“He found Ndlovu standing outside and accused him of influencing the party’s decision to suspend him. He then forced him into his car and drove to a block of flats at the corner of Josiah Tongogara and 3rd Avenue, where a certain Rejoice Sibanda, who is also a party member, resides. He was of the view that Ndlovu and Sibanda were the brains behind his suspension,” said the source.

“Sibanda was, however, not at home, but Mohammed drove towards Harare Road after telling Ndlovu that he wanted to fix him for having him suspended. He, however, managed to jump out of the car at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Josiah Tongogara Avenue and reported the matter to the police.”

The District Criminal Investigating Officer for Bulawayo, Chief Superintendent Mavis Nkomo, confirmed that police had received the report and said efforts to locate Mohammed were under way.

“He is wanted for kidnap and we are very keen to interview him,” she said.

Chief Supt Nkomo appealed to people who may know his whereabouts to assist police with information.
